Colorado Clinics + Events

Since 2020, She Sends Collective has been committed to creating accessible climbing education opportunities for women and genderqueer climbers. We believe that high-quality instruction should be financially accessible to our community, and we’ve worked toward that vision through direct subsidization from our founder, through participants who choose to pay it forward for future climbers, and through donations.

We are equally committed to creating learning environments that feel safe, supportive, and inclusive. Through trauma-informed education provided to our guides and volunteers, we strive to better equip our team to hold space for the mental and emotional realities of climbing. Because climbing isn’t just a physical pursuit — it’s also deeply mental and emotional — our community deserves spaces where people can learn, grow, and feel supported.

All programs are offered through either a donation-based or tiered pricing model, allowing participants to contribute in a way that feels aligned with their financial situation. Additional financial assistance is always available if needed — we simply ask that you reach out to us directly at chelsea@shesendscollective.com.

Our education clinics and community events are currently open to women and TGNC climbers only.

Intro to Outdoor Climbing

Dates: May 31

Location: Clear Creek Canyon

  • Ready to transition from the gym to the crag? She Sends Collective’s one-day clinic is designed for indoor climbers with little to no outdoor experience who want to build a strong foundation for climbing outside safely and confidently.

Participants will learn essential outdoor climbing skills, technical systems, and best practices for being a supportive and competent climbing partner — all in a welcoming, inclusive learning environment.

This course emphasizes maximum climbing time with minimal ground-school instruction, allowing students to learn through hands-on experience on real rock.

    • Have a working knowledge of key outdoor climbing equipment and how it differs from indoor climbing systems

    • Understand common outdoor climbing and sport climbing terminology

    • Practice managing the rope from the ground and while belaying in an outdoor setting

    • Gain experience with common single-pitch climbing systems and anchor considerations

    • Practice and receive coaching on foundational climbing movement and efficient technique outdoors

    • Experience common outdoor climbing practices, including picking + reading routes

    • Develop a stronger understanding of how to be a safe, supportive, and effective climbing partner

    • Build confidence climbing and top-roping outdoors on real rock

    • Connect with other climbers interested in transitioning from indoor climbing to outdoor climbing

  • This clinic is ideal for climbers who:

    • Top-rope or lead climb indoors

    • Comfortably belay on TR with an assisting locking belay device, and tie in with a figure 8 follow through knot.

    • Want to begin climbing outdoors confidently

    • Are looking to become stronger climbing partners

    • Want to deepen their understanding of outdoor climbing systems

Community Circle: Crag Days

Dates: June 7

Location: Clear Creek Canyon

  • Community Circle: Crag Days are casual, community-centered climbing meetups designed to bring women+ climbers together outside.

These gatherings are an opportunity to meet new climbing partners, share belays, spend time on the rock, and build connection within the She Sends Collective community — all in a welcoming and supportive environment.

This is not a clinic or guided experience. There will be no formal instruction, coaching, or guiding provided during the event. Instead, participants are encouraged to come prepared to climb independently, connect with others respectfully, and enjoy a relaxed day at the crag together.

A She Sends host will be present to help facilitate community and connection throughout the day.

Expect good vibes, shared stoke, lots of FUN, and perhaps even a little GLITTER ✨

  • Through participation in this event, climbers will:

    • Build connection within the women+ climbing community

    • Meet potential climbing partners for future outdoor adventures

    • Practice communication, collaboration, and shared stewardship at the crag

    • Gain confidence participating in community-oriented outdoor climbing spaces

    • Spend intentional time outside in a supportive and inclusive environment

    • Experience the joy, connection, and fun that come from climbing in community

  • Participants should:

    • RSVP is required to attend

    • Be comfortable climbing outdoors in a non-instructional setting

    • Have working knowledge of their climbing systems and safety practices

    • Be able to independently assess and manage their own risk and decision-making

    • Bring appropriate personal climbing gear

By registering, participants acknowledge that this is a community meetup — not a guided or instructional program — and that they are responsible for their own safety while participating.

Summer Climbing Crew Series

Dates: June 10,17,24 + July 1

Location: Jefferson + Boulder Counties

  • Summer Climbing Crew is a 4-week outdoor climbing series designed to help climbers build consistency, confidence, and connection over time.

Rather than a one-time clinic, this series creates space for ongoing practice and progression through repeated time outside with the same group of climbers each week. Our guide will tailor each session towards the individual needs/interest of each participant. This is only for single pitch terrain.

A core part of this experience is the crew element. Climbing with the same group over multiple weeks allows participants to build trust, deepen connection, learn from one another, and feel more at home in outdoor climbing spaces.

This is a supportive, community-oriented environment focused on progression, practice, and shared experience — with plenty of climbing along the way.

  • Through participation in this series, climbers will:

    • Build greater confidence and consistency climbing outdoors

    • Strengthen foundational outdoor climbing systems and practices

    • Get individualized instruction/guidance

    • Practice movement, route-reading, and projecting skills over time

    • Build meaningful connection within the women+ climbing community

    • Leave with a stronger sense of independence, belonging, and progression outdoors

  • To get the most out of this program, participants should:

    • Have prior outdoor climbing experience (even if limited)

    • Be able to confidently top-rope belay

    • Be open to learning, asking questions, and trying new things

    • Be comfortable spending multiple evenings outside in varying weather conditions

    Participants do not need to:

    • Lead climb

    • Have advanced outdoor skills

    • Feel “strong” or highly experienced

This is a space to build from where you’re at.

Anchors + Rappelling

Dates: June 13

Location: Jefferson or Boulder County

  • This one-day, hands-on clinic is designed to help climbers build the technical skills needed for safer and more independent outdoor climbing. The focus of this course is on anchors, cleaning, and rappelling — not on climbing performance.

Participants will begin with “ground school,” where they will learn and practice foundational systems on anchor boards and ground-based setups before transitioning to real-world application at the cliff.

Throughout the day, climbers will gain hands-on experience building and assessing anchors, cleaning routes, and setting up and executing rappels under guide supervision.

This clinic is ideal for climbers who are beginning to transition outdoors, looking to better understand technical systems, or wanting to take more ownership in their climbing experience.

The learning environment is supportive, trauma-conscious, and community-oriented, with an emphasis on understanding systems rather than memorizing steps.

  • By the end of this clinic, participants will:

    Understand Anchor Fundamentals

    • Identify the components of a safe climbing anchor using principles such as SERENE / ERNEST

    • Understand concepts of load distribution, redundancy, and equalization

    • Recognize common anchor materials and their appropriate uses

    Build and Assess Anchors

    • Construct basic top-rope and rappel anchors using appropriate materials

    • Demonstrate proper knot tying, including figure-eight, clove hitch, and overhand knots

    • Inspect and evaluate anchor systems for safety, efficiency, and clarity

    Demonstrate Proper Rappel Setup

    • Safely thread anchors for rappel

    • Set up an extended rappel device with a friction hitch backup

    • Perform thorough partner checks and system verification before rappelling

    Execute a Safe Rappel

    • Demonstrate controlled descent technique and body positioning

    • Manage ropes effectively during transitions and descent

    • Communicate clearly and confidently throughout the rappel process

    Apply Risk Management + Decision-Making

    • Identify common climbing hazards, including rockfall, edge management, rope abrasion, and user error

    • Practice situational awareness in a vertical environment

    • Make informed decisions about when and how to rappel safely

    • Develop greater confidence and personal responsibility in technical outdoor systems

  • Participants should:

    • Be able to safely top-rope belay

    • Climb a minimum of 5.8 on top rope

    • Feel comfortable tying in with a figure-eight follow-through knot

    • Be able to hike less than 1 mile on uneven terrain while carrying a pack

  • Kate Sedrowski (she/her)
