About the Event

Gym to Crag Clinic with She Sends Collective + Denver Mountain Guiding:  8 spots available 

As climbing gyms are opening up in our area, we know not everybody is ready to get back to the gym. Therefore, She Sends Collective is offering ‘Gym To Crag’ clinics to help you become a bit more comfortable & self-sufficient with outdoor climbing. This two day course, 5.5 hours each day, will teach you the basics behind the inherent risks of climbing outside, Leave No Trace Ethics, types of climbing outside, anchor building, cleaning and more! We hope you’ll join us.

The price for this clinic is $225. We do offer a sliding scale, so please email us if you'd like to utilize this sliding scale. 

There are prerequisites for this clinic:

  • You do not need to have experience climbing outdoors to attend this clinic :)
  • Ages 18+

Saturday, July 25: 7:00am-12:30pm

  • Meet at 7:40am at The American Alpine Club office in Golden, Colorado
  • Make sure everyone has their gear - (helmet, harness, shoes, chalk, waiver on file, water, food, etc)
  • Drive to the crag of choice in Clear Creek Canyon
  • Intro to inherit risks of climbing outdoors
  • Trail etiquette
  • Leave no trace ethics
  • Communication is Key; Learning how to be a reliable partner outdoors
  • Sport climbing v. Trad Climbing v. TR
  • Risk assessment per climb
  • Climb

Sunday, July 26: 7:00am - 12:30pm

  • Meet at 7:40am at The American Alpine Club office in Golden, Colorado
  • Make sure everyone has their gear - (helmet, harness, shoes, chalk, waiver on file, water, food, etc)
  • Drive to the crag of choice in Clear Creek Canyon
  • Review information from previous day
  • Learning how to set and clean anchors
  • Learning some new knots
  • Brief discussion about technique
  • Climb

We only have 8 spots available for this clinic. All participants will be required to wear a mask while unable to maintain 6' distance from one another.
