About Carolyn:
Carolyn Highland is a writer, outdoor educator, and mountain athlete based in Truckee, California. When not taking her fourth graders out into the field, she can be found backcountry skiing, trail running, backpacking, or jumping into alpine lakes, and then writing about it. She has had over 50 outdoor essays published online and in print, and her first book Out Here: Wisdom from the Wilderness, is slated for publication in September 2020. These essays have appeared in publications such as Backcountry Magazine, The Ski Journal, Misadventures Magazine, The Leader, the Teton Gravity Research and WildSnow websites, to name a few.
